This Privacy Policy describes how AlphaMatch Inc. ("we", "us", or "our") handles information in connection with the FolderDeck application ("App") for macOS, distributed through the Mac App Store. This policy applies worldwide, with specific provisions for users in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, California, and the Republic of Korea.
We have designed FolderDeck to be privacy-respecting by default: we do not collect, transmit, or store any personal data from users of the App. This policy explains what that means in practice and your rights under applicable law.

2. Information We Collect
We do not collect any personal information from you through the App.
All file operations performed in FolderDeck (browsing, copying, renaming, deleting, searching, tagging, etc.) occur entirely on your device. Your files, file names, folder structures, search queries, tags, and bookmarks never leave your computer through any code we write.
2.1 Information Stored Locally on Your Device
The App stores the following data locally on your device only, using Apple's standard system frameworks. This data never leaves your device through any mechanism we control.
- App preferences (view mode, font size, sidebar layout, path-bar
position, color settings, keyboard shortcuts) — stored via UserDefaults and SwiftData.
- Your FolderDeck bookmarks and bookmark groups — folder paths you
explicitly add to the FolderDeck bar.
- Sidebar favorites and smart folders — folder paths and saved search
queries you create.
- Security-scoped bookmarks — opaque tokens issued by macOS that allow
the sandboxed App to re-access folders you previously selected.
- Recent locations and session state — open tabs and the folder shown
in each tab when the App was last closed.
These items are stored under the App's sandbox container at ~/Library/Containers/co.amatch.FolderDeck/ and are removed if you delete the App or use macOS's standard "Reset" mechanisms.
2.2 System APIs We Use
The App uses the following macOS system APIs to display file information. These calls return data only about the user's own files; the data is shown to the user and not transmitted anywhere by the App.
- File timestamps (
URLResourceKey.contentModificationDateKeyand
related) — to display modified/created/added dates in the file panel and Properties window.
- Disk space (
URLResourceKey.volumeAvailableCapacityKeyand
related) — to display available space on each mounted volume in the sidebar.
- Spotlight (
NSMetadataQuery) — to perform searches over the local
Spotlight index. All processing is local; we do not send queries to any external service.
- iCloud Drive / CloudStorage detection — read-only metadata to show
cloud-only files with a download indicator.
These usages are also declared in the App's PrivacyInfo.xcprivacy manifest, which is bundled inside the App and inspectable.
3. Information We Do Not Collect
For clarity, the App does not collect any of the following:
- Name, email address, phone number, postal address, or other contact
information.
- Device identifiers (advertising ID, IDFA, IDFV, MAC address, serial
number).
- Location data of any precision.
- Health, biometric, financial, or government identification data.
- Photographs, audio recordings, or video recordings.
- Contact lists, calendar entries, or messages.
- Browsing history or app usage patterns.
- IP address (no network calls are made by the App).
4. Third Parties
4.1 Apple
The App is distributed exclusively through the Mac App Store. When you download, install, update, or purchase the App, Apple Inc. acts as the seller and processes the transaction under Apple's Privacy Policy. We have no access to your Apple ID, payment information, or billing address.
If you have enabled "Share with App Developers" in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements, Apple may share anonymized diagnostic and usage reports with us. These reports do not contain personal information and we cannot link them to any individual user.
4.2 No Other Third Parties
The App does not embed any third-party analytics SDK, advertising SDK, crash-reporting service, or social-media SDK. There are no third-party recipients of any data.
5. How We Use Information
Because we do not collect personal information, there is no processing activity to describe. The App functions entirely on your device using data that you create and control.
6. Legal Bases (EEA / UK Users)
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the UK GDPR, a data controller must identify a legal basis for processing personal data. Because we do not collect or process personal data, no legal basis is required for us to operate the App.
If applicable law later requires us to process limited personal data (for example, to fulfill a customer support request you initiate), the legal basis will be:
- Consent (Article 6(1)(a)) — for any optional communications.
- Performance of a contract (Article 6(1)(b)) — to provide support you
request.
- Legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)) — to defend our legal rights.
7. Your Rights
Subject to your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding personal data about you. Because we do not hold any personal data about you in connection with the App, most rights are not applicable in practice; we list them here for transparency.

We do not sell or share your personal information, and we do not have any personal information of yours to access, delete, or correct.
7.3 Republic of Korea (PIPA)
- Right to be informed of and request access to your personal information.
- Right to request correction or deletion.
- Right to request suspension of processing.
- Right to lodge a complaint with the Personal Information Protection
Commission (PIPC) or KISA's Privacy Call Center (118).

8. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect any data from children. If you believe a child has interacted with the App in a way that resulted in our receiving their data, please contact us and we will promptly delete any such information if it exists.
9. Data Retention
We do not retain any personal data about you because we do not collect any. Local data on your device persists until you delete the App or clear its data using macOS's standard tools.
10. International Data Transfers
Because we do not collect or transfer personal data, no international data transfer occurs in connection with the App.
11. Security
The App stores local data within the macOS application sandbox, which isolates it from other applications. Security-scoped bookmarks use Apple's standard system mechanism to maintain access to folders you have explicitly granted. We do not transmit your data, so it is not exposed to network risks introduced by our code.
No method of storage is 100% secure, and you remain responsible for the security of your own device, account, and the files you store on it.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App, legal requirements, or our practices. The "Last updated" date at the top will be revised whenever changes are made. Material changes will be announced on www.folderdeck.com prior to taking effect. Continued use of the App after a change indicates your acceptance of the revised policy.
